Overview
Screenshot Framer is a Chrome extension that helps users capture and professionally frame website screenshots. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect and how we use it.
What We Collect
Screenshot Framer ONLY collects website content that you explicitly select when capturing screenshots. This includes:
- Text visible on the webpage
- Images visible on the webpage
- Other visual content you capture
We do NOT collect any of the following:
- Personal information (name, email, phone, address)
- Browsing history
- IP addresses or device identifiers
- Location data
- Usage statistics or analytics — unless you explicitly opt in to anonymous analytics (off by default; see Optional Usage Analytics below)
- Cookies or tracking data
- Any identifying information
How We Use Your Data
We use captured screenshot data ONLY to:
- Display the screenshot with Safari frame in a new tab
- Allow you to copy the screenshot to clipboard
- Allow you to download the screenshot as PNG
- Show you the screenshot preview
Data Storage & Security
- Screenshots are processed locally in your browser
- Data is NOT stored on our servers
- Screenshots and page content are NEVER transmitted to external services (the only optional exception is anonymous analytics, which never includes screenshots or page content — see below)
- Data is NOT permanently stored
- You can delete screenshots immediately
- All processing happens on your device only
Data Sharing
We do NOT:
- Sell your data
- Share your data with third parties
- Use your data for advertising
- Track your web browsing
- Monitor your activity
Your Control
You have complete control:
- You choose what to screenshot
- You can delete screenshots anytime
- All processing is local to your device
- No data is forced to be stored
Optional Usage Analytics
Screenshot Framer can collect anonymous, aggregate usage analytics — but only if you explicitly opt in on the welcome screen. It is off by default, and you can turn it off again at any time from that same screen.
When (and only when) you enable it, we send a small set of anonymous event counts — for example, that a capture was started or an export completed — along with a randomly generated id that is not tied to your identity. We use this only to understand which features are useful and where new users get stuck, so we can improve the product.
Even with analytics turned on, we never send:
- Your screenshots or any captured image data
- The content, text, or URLs of pages you visit
- Your name, email, or any personal information
We do not use this data for advertising, and we do not sell or share it, log IP addresses, or store device identifiers alongside it.
Children's Privacy
Our Service does not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age of 16. If we become aware of such collection, we will immediately remove that information.
Policy Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date above.
